With a final huffing breath, the pup finally made it to the very top of the Mesa. He had been struggling to get to the top, but he needed to get there. It was the very tallest point in all of Ravensbruck and he would be able to see the whole land spread before his paws. The mutt walked as close to the edge as he dared, his light blue eyes wide as he took in everything before him. It was noon, so the sun shone down on everything and made it glimmer. Awe filled the young one, and he sat and basked in it. Everything below him was so small, it made him feel so... so large. Like Stolz, his alpha before the fire it tore through Koravelle and completely destroyed it. He lost his mother, Sayang, and the brute names Stolz who cared for the pups since they were born. He also wasn't able to find his other two siblings, which is why he climbed this giant mountain.
Oh right! His family! That is why he had come up here. He looked down again and realized his mistake. He was way to far up to ever pick out the site of a wolf or dog below him. Unless they were coming up the Mesa themselves. Seerten's ears drooped even further, his head lowering as he whined softly. He had to come up with a new plan now, a new way to find his family. He did miss them, but it was quite an adventure, being alone. Yes it was scary at times, and he did get cold at night, but he had found out things about the world and himself. If the fire hadn't broken out, he wouldn't have found the things that he had. Like for instance, if you hit a frog on the back with your paw, it flips over and plays dead. Then it squirts out a gross liquid that is super smelly. He learned after that... no more hitting frogs.
Seerten folded to the earth gracefully, letting his paws hang over the edge of the cliff. He swayed them to and fro as his fluffy tail swept across the ground. He was a strange creature because of the mixture of his parents. He had the same off-white coat as his mother, and pale black spots speckling his back, belly and legs. His fur was a mix of the short, course dalmatian fur coated most of his body, while his chest, neck, and paws had the softer, medium length fur. His tail was a full out wolf tail, making him look awkward and silly. He didn't really like it sometimes, but it was who he was and he knew that he couldn't change it. With a small huff, Ten rested his head on his dangling paws.
The silence was nice, it meant that he could actually think and enjoy the view without any distractions. He really should go on to find his mother, but he had worked so hard to get up here that he didn't want to leave just yet. Who knew, maybe by staying here Sayang would actually come and find him! That would be fun. That meant that his search was over, and he could focus on something else. Like... hunting. He wasn't very good at that...

A black nose twitched in the dismal air, nostrils flaring at a unique and unknown scent. "Pah! An outsider!" Grumbled a deep chested raspy voice. . The lone wolf flicked his ears as he tried to locate Where the smell was coming from, but soon gave up. "I'll try.. this way. Aye, that makes sense. The intruder is upwind.. meaning he is close to the Mesa. Ack! I still got it! I am not a scatter brained rabbit" He chuckled at himself for a moment, allowing himself to enjoy his wit. "Ha! Scatter brained rabbit."
The older wolf looked around his territory as he walked at a leisurely pace. His massive head swaying with each step. His brown eyes soaked up the rich and colorful backdrop of the forest, which was firmly in the grasp of summer. Squirrels and rabbits chittered angrily at him as he walked, while birds sung lazily above him in the branches of the trees. "My such a beautiful territory I have." He commented to himself, warmth surrounding each word. As he neared the base of the rocky incline, hia good mood turned sour. He hated this part. The climbing was always rough on his old joints, and the height made him dizzy. Still, the intruder was more important.
Taking a deep breath, the once steel grey brute, began the climb to the top. He pauses only once when he did, and soon found himself pulling himself up, albeit a bit ungracefully.. but don't tell him that. His eyes wandered until he located the soul that belonged to the scent in his nostrils. "Eh! Eh you! Yes, you." He ordered gruffly, startling the new comer. "What are ye doin' on my territory?" To prove he meant business the brute squared his massive shoulders, hackles raised, lips pulled back into a snarl that showed cracked and yellowed fangs.
"You deaf or somethin? I asked ye a question!"

The mutt peaked over the edge again, gazing down at the land that sat far below him. Not many would sit so close to the edge, but Seerten was quite the dare devil. He loved adventure just as much as he loved to solve problems. He was a quite thinker instead of a loud fighter. He tisked at the thought of fighting, quite hating that. Violence was not always the answer, most problems could be talked out. He liked to sit there and alilize the situation, often leaving long gaps between a question asked and his answer.
The sound of heavy paws stomping on the packed ground made the spotted mutts head turn to gaze upon an older wolf. He was speaking about being on his territory, even though the Mesa was a free land. He tilted his head and narrowed his eyes slightly, assessing the old brute. Could he be delusional? How should he handle this. Being only a yearling himself, he knew that if it came to a physical confrontation he would have to back down. Apparently the male didn't like how long he was taking to talk though, because he asked if he was deaf. Seerteen shook his head, finally opening his maw. "I can hear perfectly find, elder wolf," he said respectfully, but did not move from his seat. "As to this being your land, this Mesa is an open territory for all to roam. Were you thinking of some area that looks much the same?" The young one spoke well beyond his years, but he didn't waste his one year of life mindlessly beating on his littermates. Instead he listened to conversations between adults and gathering his own thoughts. He acted just as wise as the wolf before him, although he appeared to have many years on his single one.
The mixed male scooted backwards, standing up once he was a safe distance from the edge of the cliff. "My name is Seerten, and I came up here hoping to spot my lost family," gazing over to the horizon, he shook his head slowly, "I clearly did not think this through, because now I am way to high up to pick out a single wolf." he woofed, turning back to the male and tilting his head once more. He spoke a bit funny, not announcing his words properly. It bothered him slightly, but it was not his place to correct his elder.
"Why do you believe that this is your territory?" Seerten asked, trying to not tread on the toes of the faded wolf.

The dappled grey brute growled long and low from his throat, disliking how the young wolf spoke to him. Yes, he was respectful, but there was a sense of judgement underneath his tone. “I know where we are mutt. This is the Mesa, and I am perfectly aware that this is free land. However, if you must know, I prefer the spot you are sitting in compared to anywhere else in this flipping land.” Spit flew from his teeth as he talked, spraying on the rock’s near by. Dallas knew that this wasn’t his land, but he could often spook some of the younger members away by saying it was. Obviously this wasn’t the case with this old soul in a youth’s body.
His brown eyes were cold as the other wolf told him his name, and why the real reason why he had come to the Mesa. Dallas chuckled, softening his features a little, “No you didn’t, anyone with a brain would’ve been able to realize it.” He padded over to a rock that was smooth, and had been in the sunlight all day. He sighed as he slunk down onto, feeling the warmth seep into his fur. “So Seertan, where was home?” He asked, his eyes semi-closed in delight. “I assume it’s far, and was destroyed after the fire.” Many wolves lost their way after fire, scattering packs and families a far. Luckily, Dallas was unaffected directly, having most of his close family members already deceased or gone. However, his thoughts flickered back towards the young female who had been accompanying him ever since and was probably wondering where he was at this moment. (sorry for it being short, I'm getting ready to go to a concert)

Confusion swirled through the young ones mind, the elder in front of him kept changing his attitude and his emotions. It was like a door hanging on its hinges, billowing back and forth with the slightest breeze. He just sat there and blinked, allowing the silence to calm his shaky mind. He didn't much like to be confused, it made his mind turn to mush and it meant that he took even longer to answer. When he was called mutt he flinched slightly. He knew that he was an odd mix of dog and wolf, but hearing it from a strangers maw was not pleasant. He flicked his ears slightly, trying to pull his mind back to its calm state. Then the other began to talk about liking the spot where he was sitting, causing him to look back to the spot he had been laying not long ago. He could understand why the male liked it so much. "I enjoyed that spot as well, I can see why you would come to love and protect it," he woofed softly, looking back at the aged one.
He watched as the face of the others calmed, causing his tense muscles to settle. His bushy tail wagged softly back and forth, stirring up a bit of dust onto his white pelt. He shook off the comment he made about him not having a brain, he didn't want to spark up a battle, for he would lose for sure. He watched as the male walked over to a warm stone, settling his body on it. Seerten moved once again so that he was facing the other, his head tilting to the side as he took in his words. He asked of home, which made his body sink closer to the ground. "My home use to be Koravelle, but it was completely destroyed by the flames. I haven't been able to find my siblings or my mother since we had to split up. We just... ran. We couldn't track each other afterwards. I have been searching ever since," During his speech his blue eyes had wandered towards the earth, but he looked up at the male after. "I have been hoping to run into anyone that I knew from Koravelle, but I have not been able to do so."
Seerten allowed his body to sink onto the hard packed earth, a heavy sigh coming out of his little mouth. "What about you? Did you lose anyone in the flames?" he asked, wishing for the attention to be brought off of himself. He didn't like talking about his family, it made his belly sink and his heart heavy. He knew that they were in these lands somewhere, it was proving to be very difficult to find them.

Dallas shifted his position while the youth talked. His bones creaked while he did, causing him to crinkle his snout in irritation. He hated being old. Oldness meant weakness and death. Both of which he didn't want. I am not old. I know that for a fact. I am just... getting wiser. Yes, that is it. There is my answer. My body and mind is going through a transformation and I am simply becoming a better state of me. Oh. Who am I kidding? I'm turning into an old fart. One who will most likely turn into a pile of worm food someday soon. Hopefully not to soon, I don't really want to be worm food in the next few days. I really should hunt. Hunting would keep me strong. I should take down that stag I saw earlier this week. I wonder if he's still there. Yup, I bet my tail he's still there... Somewhere. Perhaps I should listen. Damnnit Dallas, focus! Dallas couldn't help but let his thoughts wander as Seertan talked about his family and the flames. His mind refocused on the dalmation cross, What about you? Did you lose anyone in the flames?"
"Mhm? Me? No, luckily I didn't. Many of those whom I loved are long gone, or fled Ravensbruck. I travel alone. Like most elders, minding my own business and running the hidden paths." He paused knowing he was rambling. For once, try not looking old. The grey brute looked over the cliff for a moment. A small stream ran close to the base of the Mesa, the forest stretching across the land. It almost looked untouched by the flames. He squinted, and soon saw the faint line where the fire had scorched and destroyed the lives of many. Dallas returned his gaze to Seertan. "No, I fortunately did not lose anyone. I have rather... gained one." He flicked his ears, wondering how Seertan would react.
"The young pup stumbled into me... Literally stumbled into me. She was quite frightened and lost, so I've been helping her find her family. Although it hasn't been very successful at the moment." He shook his giant head. "Poor thing really. She doesn't know her front paws from her hind paws." A small smile pulled at his dry lips. "Perhaps you would know her?"

As Seerten talked, he watched the elders face, wondering why he looked irritated. Did he say something wrong? When he finished he thought over his words, and nothing seemed off. So what was wrong with the older wolf then? Hopefully he was not irritated by his very presence. When he awaited the males answer, he got comfortable in his new position on the hard packed ground.
When the male spoke, his ears perked. Gained one, instead of losing one? In a tragedy such as the fire, it was rare that one would gain something from it. He was intrigued indeed. He was going to ask what he gained, but that would be rude of him. He would not try to push his way into the wolf's business. So instead he tried to wrap his mind around what could have been captured in the dire situation that was the fire. When he spoke of a lost pup much like himself, he jumped to his paws as his blue eyes grew wide. "Did she state her name to you?" The little one asked, hope stirring his his tired belly. Could it be one of his siblings? So coming to the Mesa had not been a mistake at all! For the first time in their conversation, he began to act like the pup he was, his tail wagging and his tongue hanging out of his maw as he hopped a little. If it was his sister, then he would go after her and try to find his family. Maybe, just maybe his search was over.
